Have been Encountered Libertarians? Well, they are still lots of them.

Anarcho-Capitalism – this is the type of libertarian that believes that the governments monopolize services that would be better left to corporations. And for this type of libertarian it should be abolished entirely in favor of a system in which a corporation will provide services that will be associated with the government.

Civil Libertarianism – this one believes that the government should not pass laws that restrict, oppress or even selectively fail to protect people in their day to day lives.

Classical Liberalism – they are the one who agreed in the words of declaration of independence. They also believe that all people should have basic human rights, and that the sole legitimate function of government is to protect those rights. Fiscal Libertarianism – they believe in free trade, low taxes and minimal corporate regulation.

Geolibertarianism – they are belonging to a fiscal libertarian who believes that the land can never be owned, but maybe rented. They also generally propose the abolition of all income and sales taxes in favor of a single land rental tax. They are the one who generally propose the abolition of all income and sales taxes in favor of a single land rental tax.

Libertarian Socialism – they are the type of libertarian who agreed with anarcho- capitalist. They believe that a government is a monopoly and should be abolished. But aside this thing they also believe that nations should be ruled instead by work-share cooperatives or labor unions instead of corporations.

Minarchism – they are also like anarcho-capitalists and libertarian socialists. They believe that the most functions currently served by the government should also be serving by a smaller, non-government group. But they also believe that government is still needed to serve a few collective needs, especially a military defense.

Neolibertarianism – they are a fiscal libertarians that are strongly supported military. They also believe that the U.S government should really use that military to overthrow and oppressive regimes.

Objectivism – they were founded by Russian-American novelist. They are incorporated fiscal libertarianism into a broader philosophy and emphasize rugged individualism and the virtue of selfishness.

Paleolibertarianism – they are different from neolibertarians in which this group are the isolationists, the one who don’t believe that the United States should become entangled in international affairs.

One Response to “Types of Libertarian”

  1. Fintan says:

    1) Anarcho-capitalists oppose corporations. Corporations are created by the state and have charters entailing certain legal requirements.

    2) Classical liberals are not libertarians. “Libertarian” was a synonym for anarchist up until fairly recently. Even using the contemporary American definition of “libertarian”, not all classical liberals would necessarily fit the bill e.g. Thomas Paine.

    3) Minarchists are essentially quite radical classical liberals.

    4) Neolibertarians aren’t libertarians at all, by your definition of them. They are neoconservatives with a strong economic liberal streak.

    5) Objectivism isn’t libertarian.

    6) Paleolibertarianism is sometimes, but not always, libertarian. It is more in the tradition of Edmund Burke and Ron Paul than Tucker, Spooner, Rothbard et cetera.
